We started Kindlewood to keep what fades.
A photograph gives you back a face. A film gives you back a voice — the vows someone rewrote four times the night before, a toast that went sideways in the best possible way, a whole room laughing at once. Voices are the first thing memory lets go of, and the hardest thing to get back.
Since 2012 we have been lucky enough to film weddings up and down the Bay Area and the California coast, and to be flown a good deal further — across the country and overseas. The way we work has not changed. We stay close enough to hear what matters and far enough back that you forget we are there. We film the day you are having, not a staged version of it. And we cut every film around the voices in it, because years from now that is the part you will reach for first.
